Hi Caryn!

Great review!

Re WOASD kid: according to the kid's mom (she wrote a detailed account on the This Hard Land message board), they had met Bruce the previous night but the 'E Street Rap' bit was completely unrehearsed and for a second Bruce seemed as surprised as everybody else :D

1) It's not setlist watching when you are actually at the shows. I attended all three Stockholm shows and both Finland shows.
2) Bruce found a way to make the show special for everyone in Turku. In Stockholm he pulled out his biggest hits ever, period. The point of my review of Turku was that it was a show that reflected the Finnish fanbase and had something for the casual fan (it's on brucespringsteen.net, go read it perhaps). Also, night two in Stockholm was an excellent show because he carefully crafted the show around the album. The album show setlists were challenging for him in the US, too (I attended a lot of those shows; the reviews are here).
3) The fact that people are rude during rarities is not Bruce's problem and is irrelevant to your thesis.
4) Bruce went for a super hits show for an audience who would have absolutely loved anything he did. He didn't need to do that; he chose to do that. My criticism is of that choice because he has the ability to provide a show that serves all the fans, not just the ones who are seeing him for the first time.

I like setlist watching as much as the next fan and I can understand that after seeing several shows its tempting to want every show to be a copy of turku night two, I can't help but think its unrealistic to expect every show to be full of rarities. There are many attending every night who come only to hear the hits and many for whom that is the only show of the tour they will be at, and Bruce has to find a way to make the show special for them too. I always remember hearing loose ends in 03 and being so excited to hear it but many stood around me didn't know it and either talked all the way through it or went to get a beer! I will see several shows this summer and i expect there will be one setlist i prefer to all the others but i also expect Bruce to play the hits and consider the casual fan. I was talking to a friend today who is going to see his first Bruce show this summer and i don't think would appreciate lots of obscure songs he has never heard! Not everyone at every show has ever heard spirit in the night before so sometimes us hard core fans need to remember someone that night is there for the very first time...

Thank you for an honest point of view! As a longtime(1975 tour) Swedish fan having seen him live over a great number of years and in many countries, last night made me feel a little let down and sad. I appreciate that the show was a farewell celebration to the 98% who are not tramps...but today I'm still sad, although happy for my friends who went to Turku. Keep up the great work :)

You have echoed my thoughts exactly. I was expecting, no hoping, for so much more from this show. I groaned when he started Spirit, not again actually came out of my mouth. The full BITUSA was fun but how much better would Greetings or WIESS have been. That would have truly been a way to say thank you to the amazing Swedish fans. Maybe I see too many shows and am continually wanting the rare and unexpected. I didn't leave disappointed last night, I never do, but feeling a little let down. It's a long Summer and I'm hoping for some of those magical Bruce nights sadly Stockholm 3 wasn't one of them.

I was in Finland last year for the wonderful Helsinki show, but couldn't go to the shows in Turku this year. Oh, but I wish I could have! Thank you for this review - I could imagine it all. I love the Finnish fans and they organise the BEST roll calls.....well, in my experience anyway!
